(LOS ANGELES, July 18, 2011) -- Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination and top mobile movie ticketing provider, today announced the availability of the Fandango Movies application via the Samsung Apps platform available on Samsung Smart TVs and Smart Blu-ray players.
“Fandango Movies” is now available to consumers at no additional cost on 2010 and 2011 Samsung Smart TVs and Smart Blu-ray players featuring Samsung Apps. This unique app lets consumers enjoy Full HD movie trailers on demand directly on their big screens.
In addition to access to the latest trailers, the new Fandango app delivers detailed movie overviews, ratings, cast info, and access to exclusive celebrity interviews and clips. Viewers can find theaters and showtimes by ZIP, read critic reviews and enjoy fan-generated comments from the Fandango community.
The application was developed in partnership with the next generation TV software company, Related Content Database, Inc. (RCDb), and uses the RCDb Server and RCDb Connected TV software to accelerate development and integration.
“The Fandango application creates an immersive and seamless experience for the viewer,” says Rick Butler, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Fandango, “and Samsung Apps provides a great platform for experiencing Fandango’s content and movie information. This app is designed for film fans to lean back and enjoy great HD trailers for all the summer movies that they’ll want to see in the theaters.”
“The Fandango application on Samsung Apps advances the consumer user experience beyond the era of ‘TV widgets’” says Zane Vella, CEO of RCDb. “Fandango is a world class Internet and mobile destination and our role was to extend the robust Fandango web services to the TV.”
Samsung Apps is the world’s first HDTV-based apps store. It offers hundreds of applications that deliver rich, personalized experiences that speak to people’s passions in areas such as music, movies and sports.
