RCDb and Alticast Deliver New VOD Features and New Revenue Streams on Cisco
Tru2way Platform

THE CABLE SHOW 2010, Los Angeles, May 11, 2010 - Related Content Database (RCDb) and Alticast today announced a partnership to enhance the tru2way VOD viewing experience with scene-accurate movie, actor, and soundtrack information, and enable secure purchases of related content.

The companies are presenting a demonstration at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association's The Cable Show 2010 being held May 11-13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. RCDb and Alticast demonstrations will be held in the "My World Powered by Cable" industry exhibit, as well as the RCDb CableNet exhibit and the Alticast booth (#329).

The consumer experience is presented on a Cisco set-top box powered by Alticast's and RCDb's tru2way software. Alticast integrated the RCDb data service with its tru2way set-top box software. An RCDb Server manages communications with third-party data and e-commerce services. This solution has been architected for deployment over the standard coaxial cable in consumers' homes today.

"RCDb provides cable network operators with the fastest way to integrate web services into their consumer set-top box experience," said Zane Vella, CEO of RCDb. "Alticast provides the leading tru2way foundation in global deployment and together we showcase how tru2way enables new consumer experiences and new revenue for both the cable operator and content owner."

"Combining Alticast's deployed tru2way software with RCDb's data services shows how operators can enhance their subscriber's viewing experience and generate new revenue leveraging their proven video services and the power of the tru2way platform," said Alticast's CEO David Housman. "RCDb's web services platform brings a wealth of new monetization opportunities to the cable MSO."

"RCDb is leveraging our platform to bring the PayPal experience into the living room, allowing consumers to shop while they watch TV," said Osama Bedier, PayPal's vice president of platform, mobile and new ventures. "This is another example of how we've moved the wallet into the cloud and enabled customers to pay through any connected device whether it's a laptop, mobile phone, or a set-top box."

The demonstration is available during NCTA's The Cable Show 2010 and at RCDb offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
