RCDb and Gracenote Team Up to Bring Rich Movie, TV and Music Data to the Cable Experience

THE CABLE SHOW 2010, Los Angeles, May 11, 2010 - Related Content Database (RCDb) and Gracenote today announced a collaboration to synchronize Gracenote's global movie, television, and music data with RCDb"s time-based metadata database. RCDb is presenting a demonstration of Gracenote integration in the CableNet exhibit at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association"s The Cable Show 2010 being held May 11-13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

RCDb data services are used to enhance the consumer viewing experience with scene- accurate movie, actor, and soundtrack information. RCDb data services also enable direct purchase of related content from the television using the standard remote control. The demonstration at this year's The Cable Show allows the viewer to explore scene-based actor and soundtrack information during video-on-demand playback and to purchase a related CD or digital download via existing e-commerce channels. The CableNet exhibit demonstrates the experience possible using the existing coaxial cable in consumers' homes today.

Access to Gracenote services is also now pre-integrated for cable operators that deploy RCDb servers on their networks. Initially deployed on Sony Pictures' "MovieIQ" Blu-ray features, RCDb's time-based metadata allows a studio, content provider, and now cable operator to present rich movie data while the movie is playing, in context of the changing scenes.

"The Related Content Database exists so that network operators can generate new revenue from their programming and physical plant," said Zane Vella, CEO of RCDb. "The combination of Gracenote's rich database and our time-based information means that subscribers also get a better cable experience in the living room."

The demonstration is also available at the RCDb offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
